Dr. Karen L. Robinette is a longtime and highly valued APADS Board Member who has served the organization in several capacities over the years. Most recently, she has provided dedicated leadership as 2nd Vice President of Programs and as Membership Chair, helping to strengthen member engagement and support meaningful programming for doctoral scholars and graduates alike.


Dr. Robinette is Professor Emeritus of Family and Consumer Sciences at California State University, Northridge. She earned her B.A. (1973) and M.A. (1975) from California State University, Los Angeles, and later completed her Ed.D. (1992) at Pepperdine University. Her longstanding commitment to education, academic service, and organizational leadership reflects a deep investment in the advancement of scholars and the broader APADS mission.

APADS is a support organization that fosters and provides mentoring support for Pan-African students and scholars.  We are concerned both with ensuring the academic success of students pursuing a doctoral degree and supporting the professional development of Pan-African scholars in educational research and corporate settings. 

We are a multifaceted non-profit organization interested in developing our community through the successes of our Members.
